Man fires at father, booked for attempt to murder

After a 92-year-old man was allegedly assaulted in Phase-1 of Urban Estate area of Ludhiana, the Moti Nagar police have booked his son and three others for attempt to murder. 

The elderly man was injured during the attack and is undergoing treatment at the CMC Hospital in Ludhiana. The accused are absconding and the police have been searching for them. 

The police have registered the case on the complaint of Narain Ahuja (92), a resident of Phase-1 Urban Estate, Ludhiana. In his complaint, Narain Ahuja said he had given his share of property to his son Amandeep Singh around 10 years ago, but he was harassing him. “My son Amandeep has been pressing me to get my house registered in his name, but I have refused to do so. On Saturday, Amandeep again asked me to get the home registered on his name. When I refused, he called three persons and thrashed me. After beating me, Amandeep brought his revolver and fired at me, but I managed to escape,” Narain said. 

After this, they fled. The elderly man informed the police and a police team reached the spot and admitted him to the hospital. 

According to Investigating Officer ASI Baldev Raj, the police have registered a case under Sections 307, 323 and 34 of the IPC and under the Arms Act against Amandeep Singh, Harsimran Singh, Harkanwal Singh and Harjit Singh on the basis of victim’s complaint. ASI Baldev Raj said the police have been searching for the accused and they would be arrested soon.
