Ludhiana: A 19-year-old man was booked for allegedly raping a minor girl on the pretext of marriage. The accused has been identified as Mohit of Bathinda. A case under Sections 363, 366-A, 376, 506 of the IPC and 4 of the POSCO Act has been registered against the accused at the Model Town police station. The victim’s father told the police that the accused had misguided her daughter to elope with him on February 4. “After returning home on February 6, my daughter said the accused had threatened and raped her,” he complained. tns

Arun Kanwal is DTBA head

Ludhiana: The elections of the District Taxation Bar Association (DTBA) Sales Tax for 2018-19 were held and Arun Kanwal was elected the president. Jaswinder Singh was elected as vice-president, while Ashok Wadhera became the secretary of the association. Other office-bearers are Yogesh Arora (finance secretary) and Harminder Singh (joint secretary). All office-bearers were elected unanimously. Kanwal has been elected the president for the fourth consecutive term. tns

Man held in harassment case

Ludhiana: A man was arrested on the charge of sexual harassment. A 33-year old woman accused Harminder Kumar (55) of Jagdeep Nagar in Sekhewal area of sexually harassing her. She told the police that Harminder Kumar, who is her family acquaintance, had visited the house on February 15 and assaulted her sexually. A case under Sections 354, 354-B, 506 and 509 of the IPC was registered. tns
