Ludhiana: A major fire broke out at a hosiery unit in Gurbaksh Colony on the Bhadurke  Road on Sunday evening. While goods worth lakhs were destroyed, there was no casualty as the factory was closed on account of Sunday. There were a few workers at the factory when the incident happened. One of the employees noticed smoke at MR Hosiery at 4 pm. Several fire tenders reached the spot and they managed to douse the flames in around four hours. Fire officials said the fire broke out at the fourth floor of the unit. One of the firemen, Harmail Singh, fell off a ladder from the first floor and suffered injuries. KL Kakkar, Fire Officer, said the cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. TNS
