Judicial Magistrate Jagjit Singh today adjourned the hearing in a defamation case filed by former minister Bikram Singh Majithia against AAP party leader Sanjay Singh till February 16. The case was fixed for complainant evidence. But no witness was examined today.

Majithia did not appear before the court as his personal presence was permanently exempted by the court when he was minister. Accused Sanjay Singh did not appear before the court today. His personal appearance was exempted by the court for today.

In its criminal complaint, Majithia has alleged that Sanjay Singh made a false and defamatory statement against him at a rally in Moga on September 9, 2015. It was alleged that he did not stop here but launched a fallacious campaign in order to defame and discredit the complainant.

He was unnecessarily being portrayed to be involved with drug racketeers who were nabbed by none other than Government of Punjab.

Sanjay Singh has made slanderous, defamatory and scurrilous statements against him in an unbridled manner without any basis or material and only with the purpose of intentionally defaming and discrediting him in the eyes of general public, says the complaint.
