Ludhiana sub-junior chess tourney begins

LUDHIANA: Around 200 participants from different schools are taking part in the two-day Sub-Junior Ludhiana District Chess Tournament which began at BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar here today.

Around 200 participants from different schools are taking part in the two-day Sub-Junior Ludhiana District Chess Tournament which began at BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar here today.

Competition in the U-7, 9, 11, 13 and 15 years for boys and girls is being held in this tournament. Vikas Sharma, president of the Ludhiana District Chess Association, along with IK Kalia, Manav Chawla, Rishav Katyal, Gursher Singh, Varun Kumar and Chandresh Bakshi was present at the opening function.

After two rounds, the following players secured two points each to gain lead which include U-7: Adharav Gupta, Hitansh Bembi, Medhanshi Lal and Shivan Sikka.

U-9: Aarav Juneja, Hiten Singla, Tejbir Singh and Vivaan Sharma.

U-11: Ishaant Sharma, Manbir Singh Lamba, Pranav Gupta and Rashpreet Singh.

U-13: Akshat Jain, Ansh Anand, Arshdeep Singh and Makul Singhal.

U-15: Parmarth, Divansh Negi, Deepti Sharma and Gurswak Singh.
