The 36th Lobo memorial oration and continuing medical education (CME) was conducted at the Christian Medical College (CMC) and Hospital on Saturday.

The event was organised by the Lobo Memorial Trust and the Department of Orthopaedics and was an academic feast to over 200 orthopaedic surgeons from the state and national level who attended the event. The theme for this year was ‘An orthopaedic approach to spine problems’.

The oration is organised every year under the aegis of the Lobo Memorial Trust and held in memory of Dr LH Lobo, an eminent orthopaedic surgeon who was passionate about educating the doctors of tomorrow.

Dr William Bhatti, Director of the CMC, addressed the gathering and welcomed the speakers and delegates.

The chief orator for this year was Prof Dr Raj Bahadur, Vice-Chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Punjab. Dr Kenny David, CMC Vellore; Dr Manoj Thakur, IGMC Shimla; Dr Rohit Jindal, GMC Chandigarh; Dr Saravdeep Dhatt, PGI Chandigarh; and Dr Sarvpreet S Grewal, CMC Ludhiana; were imminent speakers during the event.

The oration was followed by a CME where distinguished state and national faculty shared their experiences dealing with spinal pathologies. — TNS
