Kingpin of drug peddlers’ gang nabbed with opium

MANDI AHMEDGARH: The police have nabbed the kingpin of an interstate gang of drug peddlers, who were involved in supplying drugs and narcotics in the region, with 400 gm of opium.

The police have nabbed the kingpin of an interstate gang of drug peddlers, who were involved in supplying drugs and narcotics in the region, with 400 gm of opium. He has been identified as Rajbir Singh of Sitar Ganj village, under the Faridpur police station, in Bareilly district of UP.

City SHO Harjinder Singh said a police party nabbed Rajbir at a naka on the Jagera road while he was going to deliver a consignment of opium to some peddler here. The police are yet to ascertain the identity of other members of the gang and the local buyer of the consignment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had been supplying drugs and narcotics in the region for over a year. He was never caught as he used to travel by public transport.

A perusal of the FIR registered under Section 18/61/85 of the NDPS Act revealed that the suspect had allowed search of his belongings only in the presence of Deputy Superintendent of Police-Amargarh Palwinder Singh Cheema.
