Kidnappers drop girl at same spot

A day after an eight-year-old girl of Nawanshahr was kidnapped from Sabzi Mandi, she was left at the same place by kidnappers on Sunday.

The girl was safely recovered by the police and was handed over to the family on Sunday after conducting her medical examination. However, the accused are yet to be arrested.

Birbal, Station House Officer at Basti Jodhewal, said the girl identified as Radhika had come to Ludhiana market on Saturday to buy vegetables. Her father is vegetable vendor. He left the girl in the mini-truck and went to buy vegetables.

The girl was listening to songs, when two persons introduced themselves as her father’s friends. They told her that her father was calling her. As per the statement of the girl, the kidnappers kept her in some shanty located near the railway track. She even slept there for a night.

She told the police that she was also beaten up by one of the kidnappers, due to which the police also conducted the medical examination of the girl from Civil Hospital.

On Sunday morning, when one of the kidnappers offered her tea, she refused. Then they suddenly took her to Sabzi Mandi, from where they had kidnapped her, the SHO said.

After the girl was recovered, police teams launched the search operation to trace the kidnappers. The police party also took the girl at a few places to inquire about the kidnappers. However, the girl could not remember the exact place where she slept last night.
