Kahlon appointed member of Khelo India Talent Screening panel

Mata Sahib Kaur Hockey Academy of Jarkhar village in Ludhiana district is in news again as its general secretary, Jagdeep Singh Kahlon, has been appointed member of the Khelo India Talent Screening Committee (TSC) under the National Programme for Development of Sports.

The academy has hogged limelight as a number of its trainees have played in national-level tournaments. Some of them, on the basis of their achievements, were employed by government undertakings.

Former international cyclist, currently posted as Station Superintendent, Rajpura railway station, Jagdeep Singh Kahon’s name figures in the list of members of the committee, constituted by the Ministry of Sports, Government of India, with the help of the Sports Authority of India.

The committee has been formed to spot the talent, provide them the required coaching/ training to prepare sportspersons with a target to win medals in the 2028 Olympics.

The committee will select around 1,000 talented and promising players (boys and girls) every year from across the country for the purpose.

Kahlon is national record holder in cycling. He has represented India in international cycling competitions and has vast experience in the field of sports.

Besides, Kahlon was member of the technical committee of Indian squad for the Asian Cycling Championship and Asia Cup.

Those who hailed Kahlon’s appointment to the committee, include Jagroop Singh Jarkhar, Narinder Pal Singh Sidhu, Harkamal Singh Heer, Mandeep Kaur, Ashok Kumar, Parminder Singh Dhindsa, CS Bajwa, Karanbir Sidhu, Sukhjinder Singh, Gursharandeep Singh, Harpinder Gaggi and Yadwinder Singh Toor.
