A delegate session of Bhartiya Kisan Union, Sidhupur, to elect new office-bearers of the party was orgainsed at Fatehgarh Sahib today.

Jagjit Singh Dallewal was elected state president of the union for second time in a row. Around 250 delegates from various districts of the state presented their views under, after which Ran Singh Chatha and other leaders put forward the names of new committee unanimously.

During the election, Jagjit Singh Dallewal was elected as state president of the union. Kaka Singh Khatra was elected general secretary, Jasvir Singh Sidhupr as senior vice-president, Man Singh was elected treasure secretary and Mehar Singh Thehri was elected as press secretary of new team of BKU, Sidhupur.

The new office-bearers of the union assured the farmers that they would fight with full force to fulfil their demands, including the imposition of Swaminathan Report and to waive off the debts of the farmers. They said they would hold a press conference in Chandigarh on October 3.

The union also pledged that they would not burn paddy straw if they were given compensation by the state government, said by Gurmeet Singh Rurki, a senior leader of BKU, Sidhupur.
