Khanna, August 14

All arrangements with respect to tomorrow’s state-level function at Issru in the memory of Goa martyr Karnail Singh Issru have been completed.

Khanna SSP Navjot Singh Mahal said around 1,000 police personnel had been deployed for smooth conduct of the event. He said 46 nakas had been laid at different key points and two horse-riding teams had been pressed into service. The SSP said the traffic was diverted through alternative routes on the Issru-Malerkotla road.

Meanwhile, all political parties are gearing up for their political rallies and meeting in villages. The Congress will have its state-level function at the main pandal in Issru village and Brahm Mohindra will preside over the function. However, unavailability of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh at the function might affect the gathering.

Khanna MLA Gurkirat Singh Kotli said the participation of the Chief Minister was still uncertain.

Former MLA Ranjit Singh Talwandi said, “The Akali Dal will also hold its conference at Issru which will be addressed by former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and other party leaders.”

The Aam Aadmi Party will also hold a conference at Issru which will be addressed by state AAP chief Bhagwant Mann.
