Inter-school declamation contest

LUDHIANA: The 26th inter-school declamation contest, organised by Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust at Mittal Auditorium of Sat Paul Mittal School, Dugri, was held on Thursday to commemorate the 55th death anniversary of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.

The 26th inter-school declamation contest, organised by Nehru Sidhant Kender Trust at Mittal Auditorium of Sat Paul Mittal School, Dugri, was held on Thursday to commemorate the 55th death anniversary of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru.

The contest received an overwhelming response from schools across Ludhiana. The contest, which was held in English, Hindi and Punjabi, saw a participation of 52 students from 26 schools competing with each other for the Nehru Championship Trophy. Col (Retd) Amarjeet Singh was the chief guest for the competition. The judges of the competition were drawn from various colleges of the city.

In English category, Avantika from Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, GT Road, won first prize. Nipun Jain from Sat Paul Mittal School, Dugri, and Gurveeen Kaur from Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, came second and thied, respectively. Ananya Mohindran from Ryan International School, Jamalpur, won the consolation prize.

In Hindi category, Jashanpreet Kaur from Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, won the first prize, while Palkin Lohia from Sat Paul Mittal School, Dugri, and Varnika from DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, were declared runners-up. Harshit Arora from BCM School, Chandigarh Road, won consolation prize.

In Punjabi category, Rajveer Kaur from RS Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, stood first. Vedanta Nanda from Bal Bharti Public School, Dugri, secured the second position, while, Anisha Sapra from Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, GT Road, bagged third position. Harmeet Kaur from Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, won consolation prize. Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, G.T Road, bagged the running Nehru Championship Trophy.
