Inayat, Isha, Jasmine shine in athletics

LUDHIANA: Inayat, Isha Sahota and Jasmine Jain were declared best athletes among girls in the Under-14, 17 and 19 categories, respectively, during the Annual Inter-House Athletics Meet of Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, which concluded here today.

Inayat, Isha Sahota and Jasmine Jain were declared best athletes among girls in the Under-14, 17 and 19 categories, respectively, during the Annual Inter-House Athletics Meet of Sacred Heart Convent School, Sarabha Nagar, which concluded here today. Similarly, in the boy’s section, the honour was bagged by Karanbir, Jugadbeer and Chirag D Malviya, respectively.

Students representing the Blue House secured 210.5 points to emerge as the best house while those from the Green House garnered 208.5 points to finish as runners-up. The Yellow House accumulated 107 points to secure the third place while the Red House collected 103.5 points to finish fourth.

Col Sandeep Bhatia, Commanding Officer, NCC, was the chief guest at the prize distribution function. He gave away medals and certificates to the winners.

The event reached its crescendo when the teaching and non-teaching staff participated in sport events. The women staff proved their mettle by winning the ‘Tug of War’. Lot of excitement was writ among the support staff as they participated in the balancing the book race.

The highlight of the final day was the enthusiastic participation of parents in the couple race. Dr Pargat Singh and Kanwarjit Kaur, parents of Parvir Singh, student of Class VI, came out triumphant in the race. A cultural programme with folk dance of Rajasthan and Bhangra made everyone tap their feet.

Sister Reshmi, Principal, and Sister Lourdes, vice-principal, thanked the chief guest, students and parents. They also acknowledged the efforts put in by the Physical Education Department, teaching and the support staff, who had worked hard to make the annual meet a success.
