Ludhiana: An inter-house Hindi poem recitation competition was held at Blossoms Convent School. The competition was held in two groups. Students presented their views on social issues. In the first group, Pratibha Patil house stood first, followed by Kalpana Chawla house and APJ Kalam house. In the second group, APJ Abdul Kalam house, Rabindranath Tagore house and Kalpana Chawla house secured first, second and third positions, respectively. 

Flurry Monsoon Fest

Manav Rachna International School organised a flurry monsoon fest for its tiny tots. Almost 400 teachers and students of nursery and Class I participated in the event. A ramp walk was also organised, at the end of which tiny tots were given titles such as the best monsoon attire, sunshine smile, breezy walk and crazy flip flops, on the basis of creativity, resourcefulness and originality. 

Sur Sangam organised

Kundan Vidya Mandir, Civil Lines, organised a ‘Sur Sangam’ to provide a platform to budding singers. Of the 850 students who auditioned, only 50 students were selected after three rounds of screening for the finals. The chief guest of the event was Savita Uppal, assistant professor of music at Arya College, Ludhiana. Participants received enthusiastic applause and praise for their performances. 

Career counselling session 

Sant Ishar Singh Ji Memorial Public School, Karamsar Rara Sahib A career counselling session on ‘What after Class XII’ was also organised for the students of commerce stream. Kulwant Singh Gill, retired assistant general manager at the Punjab National Bank (PNB) was the keynote speaker. He laid emphasis on the importance of selecting the right career path told students about the career options available after Class XII. He discussed careers such as CA, CS, BA, LLB, integrated Bed, among others, and explained how students should select their field of interest and how they could proceed forward to pursue it as a career. 

APJ Abdul Kalam remembered

MGM Public School paid homage to former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on his death anniversary. A special assembly was organised, during which students did role-play, presented speeches and the quotes on the life on Dr Kalam. Principal Poonam Sharma also spoke on the life of Dr Kalam. She encouraged the students to put in their best efforts to find their niche in the world just like Dr Kalam.

Table tennis tournament

BCM School, Basant Avenue, Dugri, hosted an inter-BCM table tennis tournament in which around 30 students from various BCM institutes across the city participated. All participants displayed good sportsman spirit and team work. After a close competition, the host school bagged first prize in boys U-15 category, followed by BCM School, Sector 32. BCM, Basant City, bagged third position. In girls category, students of BCM, Sector 32, stood first, followed by BCM Basant Avenue, and BCM Basant City, respectively. 

Environment Conservation Day

BCM School, Chandigarh Road, celebrated an environment conservation day. Students of Class VI to VIII participated in an article-writing competition. They penned down the need and ways of environment conservation. The objective behind it was to create awareness among students to work towards ecological balance and environmental protection. 

Toppers felicitated

Toppers day was organised at BCM Arya. Students were awarded their due for their hard work by the chief guest, Dharam Singh Sandhu, principal of SCD Government College. The programme started with a welcome song, followed by classical singing. As many as 170 students and 42 teachers were honoured. Students, who had cleared competitive entrance exams, were also honoured.

Rhyme show organised

DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, organised a rhyme show for its tiny tots. Children recited rhymes with proper intonation and facial expressions on topics such as nature, traffic rules, save girl child and Indian soldiers. They came dressed in different characters.
