Two city lawyers out of seven contestants have been declared to be elected as members of the apex body of lawyers, Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana for the next five years.
Former Bar Council chairman & ex-chief parliamentary secretary Harish Rai Dhanda has been elected third time in the Bar Council.
Harish Dhanda secured 14th rank in the newly elected members of Bar Council. He managed to secure 1,726 votes from Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Dhanda has served the legal fraternity as the DBA president for seven times.
Former DBA Secretary Chetan Verma has also been elected as the member of the Bar Council. He succeeded in becoming a member of Bar Council in his first attempt. He had a good rapport, particularly with the young lawyers. He secured 16th position by getting 1,699 votes across two states and the UT.
