Gandhi Jayanti celebrated

BCM School, Chandigarh Road, organised various events to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and 112th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Ludhiana: Students of Bhartiya Vidya Mandir, Udham Singh Nagar, observed Gandhi Jayanti with great enthusiasm. Anjula, a teacher, expressed her views on non violence movement started by Mahatma Gandhi. She urged students to follow the footsteps of the ‘Father of  Nation’. Principal Bandana Sethi encouraged students to march on the path of truth and non violence. The day was celebrated at the Kitchlu Nagar and Chandigarh Road branches of the school as well. 

GMT Public School 

Students of GMT Public School, Jalandhar bypass, celebrated birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Various activities were organised to pay tribute to the ‘Father of Nation’. Celebrations commenced with a morning assembly in which students shared anecdote of Gandhiji’s life. Colour the picture, Power Point Presentation, discussion sheet, quiz and extempore competition among others were organised on the occasion. 

BCM School

BCM School, Chandigarh Road, organised various events to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and 112th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. A special assembly session was held to pay homage to freedom fighters. Teachers shared a brief overview of the life of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Videos on history of the duo were shown to students. In a short speech competition, students of Class I and II spoke about both the personalities. Thoughts of  great leaders were expressed in a slogan-writing competition. A poster-making contest was also held on “Clean India – Green India”.

Skill contest organised

An art and skill writing contest was held at Blossoms Convent School as per the instructions of the CBSE. Students made paintings and wrote essays. On the occasion, school principal Dr Amarjeet Kaur Bajaj congratulated the students and said kids should exhibit their talent in competition.

Musical extravaganza held

Kundan Vidya Mandir School, Civil Lines’ Alumni Association organised a musical extravaganza “Surili Sanjh” in collaboration with the NGO Param Para . As many as 1,000 alumni took a walk down the memory lane and rejuvenated themselves with soul-stirring music. The alumini expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the faculty members and school. Principal Navita Puri informed that the objective of this alumni association is to contribute for the betterment of society and their alma mater.

Yoga camp organised 

Keeping in view students’ health, a three-day yoga camp was organised at Spring Dale School under the aegis of Bhartiya Yog Sansthan. SG Kundan Virmani, president of the sansthan, inaugurated the camp to make students aware of the importance of yoga in sharpening and enhancing their memory through various asanas. Students learnt various physical fitness techniques to relieve stress. Emphasis was laid on moral education of kids to make them follow the path of honesty, hard work, truth etc. 

Cleanliness drive conducted

A cleanliness rally was held by students of Bal Bharti Public School as a part of the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”. Around 80 students along with nine teachers carried placards to sensitise people about the importance of cleanliness. Primary students were imparted knowledge through powerpoint presentation. A quiz contest was held as a part of the initiative. Students asked residents to use cloth or jute bags instead of plastic bags. Principal Punam Dogra applauded students and asked them  to keep their surroundings clean. — TNS
