A free artificial limbs distribution camp was organised by Bharat Vikas Parishad, Vivekanand branch; and Bharat Vikas Parishad Charitable Trust, Punjab, at the Viklang Shayata Kendra, Rishi Nagar, today.

Artificial limbs, calipers, tricycles and hearing aids were given to as many as 23 physically-handicapped persons. The camp was sponsored by Anjana Walia on the occasion of her retirement from the Department of Post Office, Government of India. Walia said she was impressed with the work being done by the Trust and hence chose to donate to the cause.

Narinder Mittal, president of the Trust, said: “The Trust had organised as many as 1,353 camps since 1996, in which artificial limbs, calipers, crutches, tricycles and hearing aids had been provided to more than 56,310 physically-handicapped persons. The Trust had also organised polio surgery camps, in which 2,752 polio operations had been done successfully.”
