Five held with illicit liquor, drugs in 4 cases at Khanna

The Khanna police claimed to have arrested five persons in different cases and seized smack and liquor from them.

Khanna SP (I) RPS Sandhu told the media that in the first incident, a police party arrested a person with 50-gm smack from a person on the Macchiwara road. The accused have been identified as Sunny Kumar of ward no 8, Old Sabzi Mandi, Samrala. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused.

The SP said in second incident, an Indigo, bearing Haryana number, was stopped at a naka in Samrala. During the search of the car, the police recovered 52 cartons of country-made liquor. The accused have been identified as Puneet Kalia of Guru Teg Bahadar Nagar, Khanna. The SP said the car had a fake number plate and a case under the Excise Act and Section 473 of the IPC was registered against the accused.

The SP said in another incident, a Skoda was stopped for checking at a naka and the police recovered 7-gm smack from Naunihal Singh of Kamal Colony, Samrala, and 5-gm smack from Karanvir Singh of Samrala. The SP said cases under the NDPS Act were registered against the accused.

In another incident, the Payal police arrested a person with 24 bottles of liquor. The accused has been identified as Sarabjit Singh of Ghudani Kalan. A case under the Excise Act was registered against the accused. Khanna DSP JS Cheema, the Samrala DSP and other police officials were present.
