Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections were held in a peaceful manner in Jagraon, Mullanpur Dakha and Sidhwan Bet blocks with a large number of people from different age groups casting their vote. A large number of youngsters also exercised their right to franchise for the first time.

A lot of excitement and enthusiasm was found among these youngsters to cast their vote. At a time when a huge chunk of young generation is turning away from the election process due to indifferent attitude of governments and parties, it was a delight to watch so many youngsters turning up to cast their vote.

Most of the youngsters who took part in the poll process said turning away from the election process is not a solution. The young voters feel the young generation must enter politics and try to improve the political set-up of the country.

“Parties often fail to keep the promises they make with the voters during the elections and the voters feel betrayed by the politicians, but turning away from elections is also not a solution. I feel every person should exercise his or her right to franchise and the youth should actively take part in politics to clean our political system,” quipped Anjali Kumari, who cast her vote at Hambran village.
