Ludhiana, April 19

The Fire Department carried out a mock drill at the Pavilion Mall on the Kailash Cinema road here on Thursday. The exercise was conducted by fire officials as a part of the ongoing fire safety week.

Fire officials contrived a scene of blaze at the mall and made efforts to douse the flames with fire extinguishers. All employees of the mall were given on the spot training of handling of fire extinguishers.

Officials said such exercises were being conducted to educate employees of various commercial establishments about the better handling of fire-fighting equipment in case of an emergency.

“In many cases workers of commercial establishments are not aware of handling fire-fighting equipment due to which they cannot douse flames immediately after any incident,” officials added.

The people, who visited the mall, were also apprised of how to use fire extinguishers in case of any emergency. A fire week is being observed throughout the country from April 14 to April 20.
