Ludhiana: The Daresi police have registered a case against the owner of Zip India Limited factory in a case in which a 25-year-old sewer man of the Municipal Corporation suffered minor burn injuries, when a washing unit allegedly released hot water into the sewer at Street Number 8 of Guru Nanak Nagar, near Jodhewal Basti, on Saturday.

Ludhiana: The Daresi police have registered a case against the owner of Zip India Limited factory in a case in which a 25-year-old sewer man of the Municipal Corporation suffered minor burn injuries, when a washing unit allegedly released hot water into the sewer at Street Number 8 of Guru Nanak Nagar, near Jodhewal Basti, on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Sunil, a resident of Guru Nanak Nagar. He is yet to be arrested. A case under Sections 337 and 338 of the IPC and under the SC/ST Act, 1989, and was registered. The FIR mentions that the accused was verbally informed by the sewer men not to release hot water, as cleaning work would be launched, but the owner did not pay heed. The injured sewer man has been identified as Vajinder, who works on a contractual basis. He entered the manhole without wearing any safety gear and came in contact with hot water. Zip India, which deals in woollen articles, released hot water from boilers.

Two held with 40 liquor cases

The city police have recovered 40 cases of liquor from two persons identified as Satish Kumar and Rakesh Kumar, both residents of Pathankot. They were arrested from a special naka at GT Road, Sahnewal. The accused brought the consignment from Chandigarh and were on their way to deliver it to their clients in the area. The police said more smugglers could be arrested in further probe.

Two-year-old kidnapped

A 2-year-old girl, identified as Shivanya, went missing. Her parents suspect that she has been kidnapped. Complainant Parmod Kumar of Giaspura told the police that on August 11, his daughter was playing outside the house, from where she went missing. The police have registered a kidnapping case against unidentified persons. In a similar case, the police have registered a case of illegal confinement against Manjit Singh of Mahi Khurd Barnala for kidnapping an 8-year-old boy Kuldeep Singh. The police are yet to trace the boy.

Mother, sons go missing

A mother along with her two sons went missing under mysterious conditions. Complainant Santosh Kumar of Bhagat Singh Colony said on August 7, his wife Chanda Dev (28) and his two sons Sooraj and Vishal left home and were still untraceable. He suspects that they could have been kept under illegal confinement by some unidentified persons. The police have launched a manhunt. TNS
