Experts dwell on healthy hand washing practices

Around 70 per cent of acquired infections can be easily prevented if hand hygiene is properly adhered to. This was highlighted during the commemoration of infection prevention week at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, (DMCH), Ludhiana.

Dr Rajoo Singh Chhina, Chairman Infection Control and Dean Academics, DMCH highlighted the importance of vaccines in prevention of infections which rhymes with the theme of 2019: “Vaccines are everybody’s business.”

Dr Deepinder Chhina, Professor and Head of Microbiology, highlighted the importance of proper disposal of biomedical waste in the prevention of hospital acquired infections.

Dr Sarit Sharma, infection control officer, shared his thoughts on the importance of hand hygiene and commemoration of such awareness activities in the hospital. — TNS
