A voter awareness camp was organised under the supervision of SDM Ludhiana (East) Amarjeet Singh Bains in the Grain Market at Sahnewal today.

The SDM said as per the directions of the Election Commission, they were conducting such programmes to make the voters aware and exercise their frnachise without any fear.

“Residents are being told about the importance of franchise and the value their vote holds as far as the state and country is concerned. The public is showing keen interest in the camps. In coming days, we will conduct more such activities and educated the voters,” said Bains.

Nodal officer Principal Hari Krishan Kaushal informed the voters regarding various activities being conducted through the Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme by the government. Voters were advised to use their right to vote freely, fearlessly and without any material benefits.

Practical demonstration of electronic voting machine (EVM) with VVPAT was also done.

A mock poll was conducted and result was shown by team members Jasvinder Singh Rupal, Krishan Singh and Gurprit Singh.
