Education Board merges, renames vocational courses

LUDHIANA: The State Education Department is running various courses under the vocational education scheme.

The State Education Department is running various courses under the vocational education scheme. While the department has changed the names of a few courses, some have been merged and some other have been discontinued.

Director General School Education has also issued a letter to all the District Education Officers, vocational co-ordinaries and school heads in this regard.

Horticulture and Agriculture has been merged into Agriculture. Sectarial practice, office management, purchasing and store keeping, general receptionist, all these courses have been marched together and re-named as modern office practices.

Accountancy and auditing and taxation practices have been merged and named as taxation practices. Banking and basic financial services, which were earlier two courses have now been merged into one as banking and basic financial services.

Cooperation has been renamed as co-operative management. Two courses Informatics management and import-export have been now merged and re-named as import export management.

Trades which have been discontinued from 2019-20 are transport services, travel and tourism, manufacturing of leather goods. While courses like furniture making and designing, manufacturing of sport goods and Commercial arts have already been discontinued.

The above listed courses will begin from the session of 2019-20 and students can opt for these courses after Class XII.
