Edu Dept asks schools to upload data online by Aug 16

Submission of hard copies of detail-related documents of the staff and students, along with basic information about various schools of the state, will soon be a thing of the past.

Heads of all government, private-aided and private schools have been directed to upload all relevant data on the Punjab School Portal by Wednesday.

Sources said, school heads may have to face music in case of any default in the data or ignoring the deadline, as the centralised data is supposed to be relied upon for all types of decisions to be taken by the Education Department.

Sources said though instructions about the online system replacing the existing system of collecting and submitting data through hard copies of communication were issued over a month ago, majority of the schools of the region are yet to complete the process. Hence, the higher authorities of the Education Department have fixed the deadline and asked the district-level officers for senior secondary and elementary schools to ensure that complete data is updated on the portal.

Communication received by the heads of various government, private-aided and private schools of the area revealed that the practice of submission of data through hard copies had been ceased henceforth.

“No data of any kind will be collected from schools in future. Data uploaded by schools on the portal will be considered true and will be relied upon for all purposes. If any discrepancy is found in the date or there is any delay in uploading the data, heads of the such schools will be held responsible and strict action will be initiated against him or her,” read the concluding paragraph of the communiqué received by various schools from the office of the Director General School Education (DGSE), Punjab.

Heads of schools at local town and surrounding localities claimed that they had already started updating the data on the portal. Elementary schools were linked with nodal centres established at some senior secondary schools and high schools, said sources.
