E-learning course

Ludhiana: Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, has been selected by SWAYAM-NPTEL to host a local chapter in the institution.  The National Programme on Technology Enhancement Learning (NPTEL), a project funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), provides e-learning through online web and video courses in engineering, Sciences, technology, management and humanities. This is a joint initiative by a number of IITs and IISc Bangalore and other selected premier institutions, which act as associated partner institutions.  Dr Monita Dhiman, Assistant Professor Zoology, has been nominated as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) from the college.  The main objective of the NPTEL is to facilitate students of various institutions through easier competitive means, which will aid in improving the Indian industry in the global market. SWAYAM-NPTEL is playing a vital role for enhancement of knowledge of both teachers and students. 

Placement drive

The training and placement cell of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, organised a placement drive in collaboration with CONCENTRIX. The resource person Ankita Sinha (Analyst) acquainted the students with the placement procedure which was divided into four rounds – logical reasoning, personal interview, telephonic interview and HR round. The placement drive was open to all the final year students of BA, B Com, BCA, BBA, MA, M Com and PGDCA. More than 150 students participated in the programme out of which 38 got selected. 

NSS volunteers take out rally

NSS volunteers of Guru Nanak National College, Doraha, in collaboration with PAU and panchayat of Rajgarh village shouted the slogans for the cause of Buddha Nullah and asked the villagers to participate in great numbers in the grand fair being organised on January 27 on the banks of the nala. The volunteers while taking out a rally in the village exhorted the villagers to join the common cause of uniting the people of their area to work towards the cleanliness of the Buddha Nullah which was a pure stream of water once. They need to educate the villagers of the surrounding villages situated on the banks of the nullah to restrict themselves from throwing filth and garbage into the nala and allow restricting others from doing so.

Workshop on self-management

A seven-day international workshop on the topic, ‘The Art of Self-Management’ was inaugurated at GHG Khalsa College of Education. The workshop is being organised in collaboration with the Institute of Aging and Lifelong Health, University of Victoria, Self-Management programmes, BC, Canada. The resource person for the inaugural day was Jay Bains, Provincial Coordinator, South Asian Self-Management Programs, University of Victoria, BC, Canada. The workshop commenced with the recitation of College Shabad followed by welcome of the chief guest and the other dignitaries by the Principal of the college Sarbjit Kaur Ranu.  The proceedings for first session of the workshop began with the deliberation on the concept of Self-Management Skills by Dr. Patrick McGowan, Director, South Asian Self-Management Programmes, University of Victoria, BC, Canada. He shared his views through video conferencing on the above said topic. In the second session Jay Bains discussed the various strategies for practicing self-management skills. 

Career counselling for students

The career coaching cell of Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, organised a seminar on ‘Career Guidance And Enhancement Of Employability Skills’. The seminar provided the opportunity to the students to learn and pursue various careers after graduation. The resource person, S Tiwary-Director, IBT institute, informed the students about various competitive exams and gave them vital tips for their preparation. He guided the students about current and upcoming vacancies and career opportunities available in various government departments. He emphasised on the importance of setting of goals and time management and elaborated upon the need to work towards inculcating knowledge and qualities required for any particular profession. He motivated the students to challenge themselves to excel in any field and emphasised on minute details which are particular to various exams.

Army Day observed

The students of  NSS Club and Thinkers' Forum of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GGNIMT) organised a signature campaign on the occasion of  ‘Army Day’. The students took the initiative of visiting city schools along with a few army officers to sensitise the youth on the importance of Indian Army in the life of an Indian citizen. The signature campaign indented to sensitise educational institutions, passers-by, youth and everyone around to commemorate this day with the same spirit and fervor as we do on Independence Day or Republic Day. Dr Harpreet Singh, Principal, GGNIMT said that the best a civilian can do on this day is to appreciate and remember the innumerable scarifies the army does to protect its nation. TNS
