Dowry death case against in-laws

Those booked have been identified as her husband Pawan Gupta, mother-in-law Sanyogta Rani, father-in-law Santosh Gupta, relatives Premo and Ravi. 3 booked for wrong parking

Ludhiana: The police have booked three auto-rickshaw operators for hazardous parking on the road. They have been identified as Rohit Kumar of Preet Nagar, Manjit Singh of Fateh Singh and Vineet Mishra of Ranjit Nagar. The police said the suspects had parked their auto-rickshaws in the middle of the road to pick passengers. A case under Section 283 (Causing danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation), IPC, has been registered against them. TNS

Girls go missing

Ludhiana: Two girls, including a minor, went missing under mysterious circumstances. Their kin suspect that the duo was kidnapped by some unknown persons. Uma of Shimlapuri told the police that her daughter Rupa (16) was working as a domestic help at a house in Udham Nagar and was also living there. On January 17, she left home without informing anyone. In another incident, a girl Lakshmi (19) went missing from home on January 1. A kidnapping case was registered and a manhunt was launched to trace the girls.

Dowry cases

The women police station booked three persons on the charge of dowry harassment. In the first case, Nidhi Sehgal of Bachan Singh Nagar, told the police that she got married to Ricky Sehgal of Urban Estate, Chandigarh, in 2015, but was subjected to mental and physical torture for want of dowry. In another case, the police have booked Gurmeet Singh of Bhopal, MP, on the complaint of Sumanjeet Kaur of Ishar Nagar. In another case, Inderjeet Kaur of Lalton Kalan approached the police, who booked her husband Ranjit Singh of Payal, Ludhiana, on the charge of dowry harassment.

New OPD services 

BLK Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi, will be providing OPD services in Ludhiana. This will be a regular OPD service, scheduled once a month at Deep Hospital from 9 am to 12 pm. The launch was announced on Sunday.  Dr Ajay Kumar, chairman and HoD, BLK Institute for Digestive and Liver Diseases, BLK Super Speciality Hospital, inaugurated the speciality OPD services. He said: “This OPD will provide the screening of liver and gastro related ailments such as chronic Hepatitis B, Chronic Hepatits C, alcoholic liver disease and autoimmune disorders etc. Patients will also benefit immensely from screening and expert evaluation of hepato-pancreato-biliary and gastrointestinal disorders.” Tns
