Ludhiana: Two days after a pet dog bit a resident, the Dugri police have registered a case against the owners. The accused have been identified as Ravi, Manjit Singh and Radha of Passi Nagar, Pakhowal Road. Complainant Balwinder Kaur, resident of the same locality, told the police that the accused had kept a pet dog at their residence, who used to bark at commuters. Their dog had bit some people in the past as well, but the owner did not control the dog. On June 13, when she was walking in the street, the dog attacked her. On her complaint, the police have registered a case under Section 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animal) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the IPC. On Friday also, the city police registered a case against Twinkal Manchanda of Chawni Mohalla, almost 20 days after her dog bit the son of one Arun Thaper of the same locality.

Travel agent booked for fraud

The division no. 6 police have booked a travel agent on the charge of duping residents of several lakhs on the pretext of sending them abroad. The accused has been identified as Tajinder Singh, a resident of Guru Gobind Singh Nagar, Basti Jodhewal. Complainant in the case is RK Sinha, Under Secretary, Government of India, New Delhi. As per him, the accused had opened an office illegally in Gill Chowk without any required permission. The accused is yet to be arrested.

Kidnapping case against man

The division no. 8 police have booked a man on the charge of kidnapping a 21-year-old girl. The accused has been identified as Pawan Gupta of Guru Hargobind Singh Nagar. Complainant Harjit Kaur of New Kundan Puri told the police that she had gone to the market to buy a form of railway jobs, but did not return. She accused Pawan of kidnapping her daughter. The police have launched a manhunt. — TNS
