Customs Commissionerate, Ludhiana, organised a workshop called Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Workshop today at Sanhewal.

Nearly 100 importer/exporter and their authorised representatives from across the state participates in the worksop. The workshop was conducted by SK Sinha, Commissioner (Air-Cargo Exports), Delhi Customs (former AEO Programme Manager) along with his team of officers.

AS Ranga, Commissioner of Customs, Ludhiana, said the Indian Government is committed to trade facilitation and is a signatory to the WTO’s Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA).

“In line with the Government’s resolve to usher in ease of doing business, the CBEC has launched a revamped Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme. While the programme is essentially designed to secure supply chain security in trading across borders, the Indian AEO programme provides enhanced facilitation in clearance of cargo leading to reduction in dwell time, besides a plethora of other benefits. This programme has attracted a large number of stakeholders and more than 450 entities have already been certified,” he said.

Commissionerate of Customs, Ludhiana, endeavours to ensure hassle free transactions with customs in all areas of work and to facilitate early release of cargo. In the workshop, information, clarification as well as filing of the AEO application was provided to the stakeholders by well the Client Relationship Manager. — TNS
