Uday, Abir excel for Bathinda

Uday Partap, skipper of Bathinda, and Abir Kohli excelled on day one in the match against hosts Ludhiana in the ongoing Inter-District (U-16) Cricket Tournament being played at GRD Academy on Hambran Road here on Thursday.

Uday Paratp was batting on 105 runs while Abir Kohli took five wickets in Ludhiana’s first innings to put Bathinda in a safe position.

Ludhiana won the toss and opted to bat first. After a sedate start, hosts’ innings folded at 176 runs in 52 overs. Ludhiana captain Ranvir Singh was the top scorer, chipping in with 45 runs while Saksham Vij and Aradya Shukla contributed 24 runs each.

For Bathinda, Abir Kohli was the pick of bowlers, grabbing five wickets for 58 runs in 21 overs. Krishna Taneja claimed three wickets whereas Nitin Gaba captured two wickets.

Bathinda began their reply on a dismal note, losing two wickets with just 15 runs on the board. Then Uday Partap and Parv Malhotra took control of the proceedings. The pair carried the day without being separated. At draw of stumps, the visitors were 176 for 2 after 44 overs. Uday was batting on 105 runs while Parv was unbeaten on 60 runs.

The outcome of this tie would not affect teams standing as both the sides have already qualified for the quarterfinals. — OC
