Ludhiana, December 14

The Focal Point police today claimed to have nabbed a woman and her husband for stealing a two-month-old child about two weeks ago. The suspects are natives of Bihar and at present reside at Haidar Colony.

After kidnapping the child, the woman rented a room at Shimlapuri and stayed there with the child.

Earlier at Haider Colony, she faked her pregnancy by mounting her stomach with some fluffy material. Her husband told the neighbours that his wife was pregnant and she had gone to Bihar to deliver the child, but, in fact, she was staying at Shimlapuri with the stolen child.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Gagan Ajit Singh addressed a press conference where the child was handed over to his parents.

The DCP said the CCTV footage of the woman had gone viral. On Friday, they got information that the woman had kept the child at a house in Shimlapuri. The police raided the spot and recovered the child.

Focal Point SHO Amandeep Singh Brar said on November 28, the woman kidnapped the child from the Focal Point area.

She had rented a room in a ‘vehra’ at Durga Colony where the child’s parents lived.

The boy’s father, Shyam Babu, told the police that he had three children and Sandeep was his youngest son.

On November 25, a woman rented a room in the ‘vehra’ where he lived. But while residing there, he did not reveal her identity to anyone.

The woman took his wife to the market. She accompanied her on the pretext of buying vegetables.

His wife carried the child along. At the market, the woman tricked his wife and kidnapped his son.
