While three or more candidates would be fighting against each other in a majority of wards, there would be a close contest between only two candidates in four wards of the city.

A close contest between Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress would be witnessed in wards 10, 64, 67 and 75 as no candidate of any other party or independent is contesting the election from there. Neither teh Aam Aadmi Party nor Lok Insaaf Party has fielded any candidate from these wards.

In ward 64, only Sanjay Kapoor of the BJP and Rakesh Prashar of the Congress are in the fray.

In ward 67, the fight is only between Opinderjit Kaur Dua of the Shiromani Akali Dal and Mamta Ashu, wife of MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu, of the Congress.

In ward 75, Congress has fielded Amrit Varsha Rampal, while Sukhminder Kaur is a SAD candidate.

According to information, only two candidates — Harjinder Pal Lali of the Congress and Gurbaksh Singh Billa of the BJP — are contesting from ward 10.
