Ludhiana, January 23

Karanjit Singh Soni Galib assumed office of the District Congress Committee (rural) president at Congress Bhawan today.

Speaking on the occasion, Galib said his family had been associated with the Congress for decades and his father, late Gurcharan Singh Galib, was twice elected MP from Ludhiana. He said he, along with his team, would ensure that welfare schemes of the Punjab government were implemented at the grassroots level.

Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu said newly appointed District Congress Committee presidents and their teams should promote Punjab government schemes.

Ashu said the state government was committed for the welfare of all sections of society.

Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu urged the Congress workers to act as eyes and ears of the Punjab government to ensure that no person gets left behind to avail the government schemes.

Thinking of society?

Commuters suffered inconvenience as traffic near the Congress Bhawan was diverted in the wake of the Congress event. Traffic diversion led to massive jam as well. “The government must find a solution to traffic problems in these areas. Traffic diversion just leads to chaos,” said Ravinder Singh, a resident of the city.
