City lad shoots gold at Czech Republic meet

LUDHIANA: Arjun Singh Cheema, a student of Om Parkash Bansal Modern School, Mandi Gobindgarh, hogged limelight as he won medals in the 28th Shooting Hope Meet held at Plzen, Czech Republic, recently.

Arjun Singh Cheema, a student of Om Parkash Bansal Modern School, Mandi Gobindgarh, hogged limelight as he won medals in the 28th Shooting Hope Meet held at Plzen, Czech Republic, recently.

Arjun brought laurels for his school and the country, finishing among position holders in this competition. Proving his shooting skills, Arjun won a gold medal in the individual as well as the team event in the 50-metre free pistol event.

He also bagged a silver medal in the 40-metre air pistol event in both categories.

Sangeeta Sharma, Principal of the school, appreciated the outstanding achievement of Arjun. “With the benchmarks he is setting, Arjun has been inspiring not only the students of our school, but also the upcoming shooting stars of the country at large,” she said.

She urged upon students to emulate Arjun and win glory for their parents and the nation by excelling in sports.
