Navraj Singh Chhina, a student of Class XII (science) student, Nankana Sahib Public School, Gill Park, has brought laurels to the school by ranking in the top 25 per cent of all contestants in the world level contest- Euclid Contest. It was conducted by the Centre for Education in Mathematic and Computing, Faculty of Mathematics, University of Waterloo, on April 7.

The budding achiever has been awarded with a Certificate of Distinction and a medal for this achievement.

Sharing his success Navraj said, “I got to know about this contest from the school authorities. Our school principal Harmeet Kaur Waraich encouraged me to participate in it. I did not prepare specially for this contest as it was based on the board syllabus only. After having appeared in the pen and paper test of two hours, I was sure that I will come up with flying colours. Thank God my efforts proved to be fruitful.”

The school Principal Waraich said, “It is a matter of pride that he could be ranked in the top 25% out of 18000 students from 1600 different schools. I wish him success at every step of his life.”

Navraj wants to have his career as a software engineer. His father Dr DS Chhina is a lecturer at Government Teacher Training Centre and mother Gurmeet Kaur is an English lecturer at Government Senior Secondary Model School, PAU. His hobbies include playing badminton and swimming.
