City girls register facile victory over Hoshiarpur

LUDHIANA: Ludhiana registered a facile 23-2 victory over Hoshiarpur in basketball in the girls’ section in the 63rd Punjab State Inter-School Games-2017 for Boys and Girls (U-19) at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

Ludhiana registered a facile 23-2 victory over Hoshiarpur in basketball in the girls’ section in the 63rd Punjab State Inter-School Games-2017 for Boys and Girls (U-19) at Guru Nanak Stadium here today.

Besides, Ropar girls thrashed SAS Nagar, Mohali 39-1, Sangrur routed Amritsar 44-11, Amritsar Sports Wing blanked Fazilka 52-0, Jalandhar defeated Bathinda 37-16, Ludhiana wing routed Moga 35-8 and Amritsar wing overwhelmed Hoshiarpur 20-0 to advance into the next round.

Similarly, in boys’ section, Sangrur survived a scare from Gurdaspur before romping home victorious 61-59, Moga beat Barnala 51-44, Mohali got the better of Hoshiarpur 39-37, Patiala outperformed Fatehgarh Sahib 60-39, Ludhiana wing outplayed Tarn Taran 57-7, Patiala wing made mince meat of Ropar 49-2 and Sports School, Ghudda (Bathinda) outclassed Kapurthala 41-28 to move into the second round.

DEO Ludhiana Swaranjit Kaur was the chief guest at the opening function, while Teja Singh Dhaliwal, honorary general secretary, Punjab Basketball Association, and Bikram Bhanot, Assistant Education Officer, were guests of honour. Gurkirpal Singh, Dalvinder Singh, Gurvinder Singh Kila Raipur, Paramjit Kaur Ayali, Amarjit Kaur, Sukhwinder Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Bhupinder Singh Mangat, Jasvir Singh Lalton Kalan, Makhan Singh Sahnewal, Roop Singh Khaira, Kulwant Singh, Deepak Kumar Sherpur, Manpreet Singh, Sarabjeet Kaur, Baljeet Kaur, Paramjeet Kaur, Jaspreet Singh were also present.
