Ludhiana, October 3

In what may be a good news for residents, the supply of clean compressed natural gas (CNG) has started in the city. The first CNG filling station opened at Sardar Bachan Singh HP Petrol Pump, Balloke. The filling station was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Agrawal in the presence of the company officials, CNG vehicle owners and environmentalists today.

Giving more information, company officials said, “CNG is a clean gas. Its use increases life of the vehicle engine. Besides, it also reduces the cost of maintenance and service of the vehicle. As compared to petrol/diesel-run vehicle, service of the vehicle running on the CNG gets due after comparatively much longer time.”

“As average of the vehicle increases, its owner has to pay much less operating cost,” company officials added.

Prior to the opening of this CNG filling station, owners had to visit either Doraha or Phillaur for filling tanks of their vehicles.

Speaking on the occasion, Agrawal said, “People must shift to vehicles running on the CNG as the pollution level is rising in the city. Efforts will be made to set-up more such CNG filling stations in other parts of the city too.”
