Ludhiana: Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh on Saturday adjourned the hearing in the City Centre case involving Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh till May 5. The case was fixed for hearing arguments on the closure report of the Vigilance Bureau, but no arguments were advanced. On August 19 last, the VB had filed a closure report in the court of Sessions Judge on the basis of further investigation carried out by it on the application of one of accused Chetan Gupta of New Delhi. The VB had claimed that nothing wrong was done and figures of loss to the state exchequer worth crores were “imaginary”. OC

15-yr-old goes missing 

A 15-year-old boy went missing under mysterious circumstances from home. Complainant Ram Ashish of New Guru Teg Bahadur Nagar told the police that on the intervening night of April 16 and 17, his son Gulshan went missing from room. He suspected that some unidentified person could have kept him under illegal confinement. The police have launched a probe.

Man held with intoxicants

The Shimlapuri police have arrested a man and recovered 200 intoxicant tablets from him. The accused has been identified as Vikas Nayyar, a resident of Ashok Nagar. The police said during a routine naka at Bhagwan Chowk, the accused was stopped for checking and during the search of his belongings, intoxicant tablets were recovered from him.

Man booked under POCSO Act

The Sadar police have registered a case against Sandeep Singh, a resident of Kheri village, on the charge of sexually exploiting a 5-year-old boy. The mother of the victim told the police that on April 19, she and her husband had gone to the market, but when they returned home, they found the accused attempting to exploit her son while lying on the bed. The accused was yet to be arrested. TNS
