City boys register win in kho-kho, basketball

LUDHIANA: Hosts Ludhiana registered easy win in kho-kho and basketball in their opening matches in the boys section in the ongoing 65th Inter-District School Games (U-19) being held simultaneously at Government Senior Secondary School, Bharat Nagar; Malwa Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Model Gram; and Guru Nanak Stadium, here today.

Hosts Ludhiana registered easy win in kho-kho and basketball in their opening matches in the boys section in the ongoing 65th Inter-District School Games (U-19) being held simultaneously at Government Senior Secondary School, Bharat Nagar; Malwa Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Model Gram; and Guru Nanak Stadium, here today.

In kho-kho, Ludhiana recorded two victories. In the first match, they blanked Muktsar 10-0 and in the next one, they defeated Hoshiarpur 14-3. In basketball, Ludhiana wing lads made mincemeat of Mansa 43-8.

Rupinder Singh Ravi, state organiser, Punjab School Games, declared the competition open. Teja Singh Dhailwal, Ajit Pal Singh, Assistant Education Officer, Ludhiana; Principal Karanjeet Singh Grewal, Dalvinder Singh Minhas and Malwinder Singh Sekhon were among others present on this occasion.

Kho-Kho: Patiala beat Fatehgarh Sahib 11-1; Barnala beat Gurdaspur 9-3; Ludhiana beat Muktsar 10-0; Mansa beat Faridkot 9-0; Kapurthala beat Bathinda 8-0; Hoshiarpur beat Muktsar 11-2; Patiala beat Faridkot 9-0; Kapurthala beat Barnala 10-2; Ludhiana beat Hoshiarpur 14-3; Mansa beat Fatehgarh Sahib 7-0; Bathinda beat Gurdaspur 8-2; Jalandhar beat Pathankot 13-2; Ferozepur beat Tarn Taran 12-2; Sangrur beat Amritsar 14-3; Moga beat Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar 16-4; Amritsar beat Fazilka 12-8 and Ropar beat Mohali 16-3.
