Chhabeel is a generous tradition in Punjab, wherein the general public is served sweetened drink. It also gives respite from scorching heat in summers. While volunteers perform social service by providing sweet drink to the public, they should also keep in mind that the traffic does not go haywire. As the weather is hot and humid, those who are rushing for their important works may not be able to savour the sweet drink and in such case, serpentine queues of vehicles can create a problem for them in the tropical climate. As an act of virtue, kindly arrange the set-ups in a way that traffic snarls do not occur.

Perils of social media

The social media has brought the world much "closer" as with a click of a button you get to know where your friends/ acquaintances are headed for summer vacations. It is interesting to see their beautiful pictures, but sometimes one has to answer kids' queries as to why they did not take them to "exotic" places during vacations. After watching the pictures of her friends/their families visiting Maldives, Macau, US and UK, a 12-year-old girl was heard complaining: "Look how people are enjoying life by visiting beautiful places and you took us to nearby hills. Next time, we are not going to roam here and there. Please take us abroad." With no option left, the poor mother had already started saving for the "exotic" vacation!
