CBSE invites entries for teachers’ awards

The Central Board of Secondary Education has invited applications for their teachers’ awards to be given on September 5. The board has written to school heads regarding the eligibility and categories of the awards.

The award is given to teachers and principals in various categories. The awards are presented to primary teachers, middle-school teachers, language teachers, school principals, special awards, science teachers, PT teachers, among others.

The CBSE has also uploaded details on their official wesite, http://cbse.nic.in/, for more details. The award was constituted in year 2000 under the Ministry of Human Resource and Development.

As per a CBSE circular, teachers working in CBSE affiliated schools for at least 10 years are eligible to apply for the award. Any teacher or principal, who had applied earlier, can also send in their entries. A single person can apply for only one category and a principal cannot apply in the categories of students. The interested applicants can send their applications by May 31. The application is available on http://cbseacademic.nic.in/.

All the applicants are supposed to fill in their forms directly. A national-level scrutiny committee will be formed to check the credentials and supporting documents of the applicants. Based on the screening stage, a merit list will be prepared as per the parameters. The shortlsited names will be displayed on the CBSE portal.

The award winners are given a merit certificate, a shawl and a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
