Bursting of crackers except at the specified time may land you in trouble that, too, in a jail. Recent orders issued by the Punjab and Haryana High Court (HC) categorically stated that on October 19 crackers could be bursted only between 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm and if anyone violated the orders he/she may face legal action.

As per orders of Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Agrawal under Section 144, CrPc, if any resident did not comply with the HC directions then FIR could be registered under Section 188, IPC. For implementing the order the police administration has been asked to deploy PCR teams. ADCP Surendra Lamba said the police had received the court orders and same would be implemented in merit.

According to Section 188, IPC, whoever, knowingly disobeys such directions shall be punished with simple imprisonment of one month or with fine which may extend to Rs 200, or with both. And if such disobedience causes danger to human life, health or safety, riot or affray, shall be punished with imprisonment of up to six months, or with fine which may extend to Rs 1,000, or with both.
