A discussion on “Ik Fauji di Atam Katha”, an autobiographical book, was held at Punjabi Bhawan.

It is an autobiography of former BSF Deputy Commandant Bhupinder Singh Chaunkiman. Speaking about his book, he said his life has been full of struggle, but through this book, he has tried to say that no matter how hard the path may be, but if one is determined, one can reach one’s goal. He said his parents wanted him to work only in fields and not continue with studies, but he was determined to study and joined the Army.

He said he failed several times in the entrance examination, but was determined to get in the Army. His dogged persistence saw him make it to the BSF in the fifth attempt, he said.

He wanted to carry on with his education and even after retirement, he earned a degree in management and took a private job and later went to Australia.

This is his fourth book, he said. The first three books include ‘Anjane dar vich rehnde lok’, ‘Anjane roopan da ehsas’ and ‘Antiher’ that explores several aspects of religion.

Several litterateurs including former PAU VC MS Kang, Gulzar Pandher, Surinder Kaile, Tarlochan Lochi and Kulvinder Kaur Minhas among others attended the function.
