The Communist Party of India (CPI) and the Communist Party of India –Marxist (CPI-M) alleged that policies of Narendra Modi led NDA government have subverted Indian democracy, wrecked its pluralistic culture, undermined the spirit of Indian Constitution and disturbed the secular fabric among others at the behest of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Addressing a convention organised jointly by the left outfits, the comrades said time has come to overthrow the incumbent government and thwart their nefarious designs. “The events at Bulandshahr are a pointer to their ulterior motive to engineer riots and split the society on communal lines to garner votes,” they said.

Speakers said the Modi government has utterly failed in keeping its election promises which had catapulted the BJP to power. The report card of four years of Modi government shows negative performance in various speheres, including price rise, creation of jobs, agricultural and industrial growth and unearthing black money.

They maintained that the dramatic move of demonetisation by PM Modi caused a “colossal damage” to the Indian economy which resulted in closure of several lakh of the small, micro and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and loss of jobs.

“Independent surveys have shown that within a few months after demonetization, around two lakh and a half lakh units closed down which resulted in loss of 70 lakh jobs. The GST has further harmed small traders,” they said.

Leftist leaders rued that PM Modi has promoted RSS’s Hindutva agenda to polarise Indian masses on the basis of religion.

Both the outfits gave a call to all secular, democratic and left forces to come together to trounce the BJP and their allies in 2019 General Elections.

DP Maur, Sukhminder Lotey, Ramesh Rattan, MS Bhatia and Charan Sarabha among others were the prominent speakers.
