Ludhiana, February 3

Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu and Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu on Sunday performed the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a road connecting Daba and Giaspura areas of the city.

The 1.5 km-long road would be constructed at a cost of nearly Rs 1.5 crore and the project would be completed in the next six months.

Speaking to mediapersons, Bittu said the road was last constructed some 10 years ago and since then, no attention had been paid towards its worsening condition and inconvenience caused to the people.

“Being a low-lying area, the problem of water accumulation during the rainy season is prevalent here and that is why, the Municipal Corporation has now decided to construct a concrete road instead of a bitumen one,” he added.

While interacting with area residents, the MP assured them that all roads in the locality would be recarpeted in the coming few weeks.

He claimed that there was no shortage of funds with both Punjab Government and the MC as far as development works in the city were concerned.

Mayor Balkar Singh maintained that the MC was committed to improving the delivery of services and provide best possible urban infrastructure to the city residents.
