Awareness camp held at KLSD College

Ludhiana: An awareness camp was organised by sub-divisional centre, Saanjh Kendra, Ludhiana, in association with the NSS unit at Kamla Lohtia SD College to provide basic information to the students regarding traffic rules, drug addiction and its ill-effects and the Right to Service Act.

Ludhiana: An awareness camp was organised by sub-divisional centre, Saanjh Kendra, Ludhiana, in association with the NSS unit at Kamla Lohtia SD College to provide basic information to the students regarding traffic rules, drug addiction and its ill-effects and the Right to Service Act. The resource persons for the occasion were Inspector Paramjit Rana, Master Trainer ASI, Pardeep Kumar, Gurpreet Singh and Jasbir Singh, Constables from Traffic Police. They familiarised the young students about the essentiality of observing traffic rules, not merely as rules but as safety measures to save their precious lives. They also apprised the young audience with the ill-effects of drugs and advised them to shun away from this menace and also elaborated their views regarding Right to Service Act.

Industrial visit by KCW students

KCW organised an industrial visit for students of Post Graduate Department of Commerce, Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana. In all, 50 students of M. Com-I and BCom-III accompanied by two faculty members visited the company. The objective of the visit was to give industry exposure to the students and to bridge the gap between theory and practical application of the curriculum. The technical and quality executive made the students acquaint with certain processes like cutting edge spinning, weaving, knitting, printing, dyeing, embroidery, stitching and linking facilities, starting with first step of material used and end stage of packaging and delivery. Apart from the manufacturing process, information related to the quality maintenance and control was also shared with students.

Shaheed Udham Singh remembered

The martyrdom day of Shaheed Udham Singh was commemorated with great fervour by the Department of Punjabi, Government College for Girls. The chief guest on the occasion was college Principal, Prof Mohinder Kaur Grewal. She inspired the students to adopt the thoughts of Shaheed Udham Singh so that the heritage of the nation can be passed into the coming generations too. Paramjit Kaur, Head of Department (Punjabi) expressed her gratitude to the chief guest.

Students clinch positions

Students of Sri Aurobindo College of Commerce and Management, Ludhiana, have proved their mettle by producing excellent results in BBA-IV semester examination. The college has consistently produced good results since its inception, and this year also it has successfully maintained the momentum. Naman Jain secured IIposition in the university. Following the suit, Anubhav Poplay managed to bag VIII, and Alisha Kapoor secured IX position. Out of 88 students appeared, 80 got the first divisions. Principal of the college, Dr R L Behl, felicitated all students for their indefatigable and industrious efforts, and motivated the college faculty to achieve better results.

100% BPEd result for GHG Khalsa College

The result of the semester-I examination of Bachelor of Physical Education for the session 2016-17 of GHG Khalsa College, Gurusar Sadhar, recently declared by the Panjab University has been 100%. Dr Swaranjeet Singh Deol while congratulating the students and the faculty members highlighted that the college had started offering BPEd from last session and all 55 students of this first batch cleared first semester examination with flying colours with Inderpreet Kaur (87.62 per cent marks); Jaskaran Kaur (87.50 per cent marks) and Maninder Kaur (84.62 per cent) securing II, III and VI positions respectively at the university level.

GNIMT organises donation camp

The NSS Unit of Guru Nanak Institute of Management & Technology, Gujarkhan Campus, organised a donation camp in which the students and staff donated old clothes, household items, shoes, books, stationery items, eatables and many other items. They collected about a mini-truck load, which was handed over to local NGO (Ek Noor – Neki Ki Dukaan). The camp was organised by the NSS Officer Pankaj Goel under the guidance of Dr Sandhya Mehta, Deputy Director of the Institute.

‘Selfie with tree’ campaign held at LCET

With an idea to attract more people to plant saplings, Ludhiana College of Engineering & Technology organised, a ‘Selfie-with-tree’ campaign. The LCET chairman, Vijay Gupta, informed that all necessary instructions are already given to students .Every student pledge to plant minimum one tree.— TNS
