Ludhiana: An awareness activity on ‘Water Conservation and Management’ was organised at Partap College of Education. Different events such as- poster making, slogan writing and declamation contest were held on the theme. The purpose of conducting such activities is to motivate the students to take initiative for conserving and managing water. ManpreetKaur, Principal, gave away the prizes to all the winners. In her motivational speech she emphasised on the power and role of teachers to educate the society and the offspring for the sustainable use of water. After the competitions, an awareness rally around the college campus was conducted. All the college faculty members and students participated in the rally

Parent Teacher meet held

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, organised a Parent Teacher Association function to facilitate a common platform for the teachers and the parents where the discussions were held to enrich the educational experiences of the students. Various issues pertaining to the all round develpoment and welfare of students were also discussed. Dr Nimral Jaura, Director Department of Youth Welfare Panjab University Chandigarh, graced the occasion. The gathering comprised Madam Sarbinder Kaur, parents, staff members and students. The parents were mesmerised with the enthralling performances of the students in the form of Indian Orchestra, histronics, mimicry, play, traditional song, bhand, skit, mime and folk song. The winners of youth festival (zonal and inter- zonal) were also honored on this occasion.

Poetry recitation programme

The Punjabi Literary Society and the Hindi Department of Government College for Girls, along with Punjab Kala Parishad, Chandigarh, organised a poem recitation programe. The Vice Principal of College Varinderjit Kaur welcomed the poets. The head of Hindi Department, Rakesh Kumar enlightened the listeners about the importance of poetry in our lives. During which the reputed poets of Punjabi language Jaswant Zafar, Swaranjit Savi, Jasleen Kaur and the reputed poets of Hindi language Kumar Krishan and Dr. Rakesh Kumar introduced the listeners to their poems. Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Head of Hindi Department expressed gratitude to the guests at the end of the programme. The teachers of the college also marked their presence at the programme.

Visit to ‘gaushala’

Abiding by the MHRD'S Institutional Innovation Council guidelines, members of Institutional Innovation Council of Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women, organised a visit to the Prachin Gaushalla-2. The purpose of the visit entailed inculcating the sense of saving environment in the students. During the visit, the students witnessed the mechanism of converting cow dung into logs, which are sent to crematoriums in order to be used in place of wood, saving precious trees. The members of the council Rajwinder Kaur and Veenu Jain described the visit to be greatly motivating and shedding the light on innovative ways of saving environment. TNS
