Ludhiana: Repeating the exercise conducted after killing of a pastor Sultan Masih in July this year, the city police have booked nine persons for riding two-wheelers with covered faces. Earlier, when pastor was shot dead, the police had registered dozens of FIRs against bike-borne persons driving with their faces covered. The police resorted to the exercise as bike-borne persons, who killed RSS worker Ravinder Gosain, had also covered their faces when they the committed crime. Seven persons, who were booked by the police, have been identified as Davinder Singh of Basti Jodhewal, Sarabjit Singh of Lakshami Colony, Gurvinder Singh of Shaoni Mohala, Gurpreet Singh of Baba Than Singh Chowk, Bhavnish Uppal of New Tagore Nagar, Ranjit Singh of Boolgarh, Balkar Singh of Boolgarh, Tanmeet Singh of Hargobindpur and Sandeep Singh of Saiyan Kalan. Travel agent booked for fraud

Khamano: The police have booked a travel agent for allegedly cheating a youth of Badla Kotla village on the pretext of sending him abroad. The alleged accused has been identified as Baramdeep Singh, a resident of Dulwan village, near here. In his complaint Angrej Singh, a resident of Badla Kotla village, stated that he was lured for green pastures abroad by Baramdeep. Angrej said he was sent to South Africa (SA) after accepting Rs 3,25,000 and was promised a good job of a carpenter by the accused. He had to roam in the SA without proper work. The alleged accused failed to address his grievances and he had to return empty handed with no other means. Finding no other way Angrej approached senior police officials of Fatehgarh Sahib and Khamano. The police after recording his statement registered a case under Sections 420 and 406, IPC, against the alleged accused. The Khamano SHO, Navdeep Singh, said the case was under investigation and efforts were on to nab the accused as soon as possible. OC
