The police recovered 8.5 kg of charas from two peddlers near here today.

Doraha SHO Hardeep Singh Cheema, along with a police party, arrested the peddlers with the contraband at a hi-tech naka on GT Road here.

The two peddlers were coming from the bus stand side on foot. After seeing the police party at the naka, they turned towards the service lane. The police asked them to stop for checking. The police searched the belongings of the pedestrians, identified as Nasrudin and Saban Kumar of Bihar. It was found that Nasrudin was in possession of 5.5 kg of charas and Saban carried 3-kg drug.

“A case under Section 20/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the Doraha police station. The police will subject the miscreants to further questioning and there is a possibility of major disclosures by them,” said the SHO.
