600 attend ICAI nat’l conference

The city branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is hosting a national conference for it members. The two-day conference, which began today, is being organised by the Committee for Capacity Building of Members in Practice (CCBMP) of the ICAI.

Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Cabinet Minister for Rural Development Panchayats, Water Supply and Sanitation, was the chief guest on the occasion.

The theme of the conference is “Capacity building measures for practitioners”. The conference is spread across five technical sessions. It is a platform for members to get knowledge on various topics related to direct and indirect taxes (GST).

Members will also get an opportunity to listen to experts and interact with them for clearing their doubts. As many as 600 members attended the national conference on the first day.

Dr Girish Ahuja today covered the topics, which include provisions relating to benami transactions and cash restrictions.

CA Atul Kumar Gupta talked about time and value of supply under the goods and services tax (GST) and input tax credit.

CA Sanjeev Malhotra discussed the transitional and other critical provisions under the GST.

While speaking on the occasion, Tripat Bajwa said the Congress government would fulfil all its promises and the audit of the panchayat works would be done by the third party. He said the conference would provide a platform for traders and shopkeepers to learn how to maintain their account books as the GST would be applicable in the country shortly.
